Description

Crispy, flavorful popcorn chicken made with marinated bite-sized chicken pieces coated in a seasoned flour mix and deep-fried to golden perfection.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix buttermilk and hot sauce. Add the chicken pieces, toss to coat, cover, and marinate in the fridge for 1 hour.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and cayenne.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the eggs.
  4. Heat oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Remove chicken from buttermilk and dredge each piece in the flour mixture.
  6. Dip each piece in the eggs, then return to the flour mixture for a second coating.
  7. Fry chicken pieces in batches for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and fully cooked.
  8. Drain on paper towels and serve warm.

  • Marinate the chicken longer for deeper flavor if time allows.
  • Use a thermometer to maintain the oil temperature for even frying.
