This Crockpot French Onion Meatloaf is a savory, comforting dish that combines the rich flavor of French onion soup with classic meatloaf. Perfectly cooked in your slow cooker, this recipe offers a tender, juicy meatloaf topped with melted cheese for added goodness. Ideal for busy nights, it’s a crowd-pleasing meal that’s easy to prepare and full of flavor. Enjoy the ultimate comfort food with minimal effort!

Ingredients

1 ½ pounds ground beef

1 packet French onion soup mix

1 large egg

1 cup breadcrumbs

½ cup milk

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your preferred cheese)

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, French onion soup mix, egg, breadcrumbs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Combine until evenly mixed.

  2. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf or transfer it to a loaf pan. Place the meatloaf in the bottom of your Crockpot.

  3. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours, or until the meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of 160°F.

  4. About 30 minutes before serving, top the meatloaf with shredded cheese. Continue cooking until the cheese melts and becomes golden brown.

  5. Once cooked, remove the meatloaf from the Crockpot and let it rest for 5 minutes. Slice and serve.

Notes

  1. Cheese Options: While cheddar cheese is a popular choice, feel free to swap it with mozzarella, Swiss, or Monterey Jack for a different flavor.
  2. Variations: Consider adding finely chopped veggies like mushrooms or bell peppers to the meat mixture for extra flavor and texture.
  3. Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven as needed.
  4. Freezing: Allow the meatloaf to cool completely before wrapping tightly in plastic wrap and foil. It can be frozen for up to 3 months.
