Description
Crockpot Swamp Potatoes are a hearty, comforting side dish made with layers of potatoes, onions, meat, cheese, and seasonings, all slow-cooked to perfection. It’s an easy dump-and-go recipe that’s perfect for potlucks or family dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 (32 oz) bag frozen Southern-style hash browns (diced potatoes)
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 lb cooked and crumbled beef sausage or turkey sausage
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of chicken soup
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Nonstick spray
Instructions
- Spray the inside of your crockpot with nonstick spray.
- Layer half of the hash browns, chopped onions, cooked sausage, and shredded cheese.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
- In a bowl, mix together the cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Pour the soup mixture evenly over the top of the layered ingredients in the crockpot.
- Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours or on high for 3–4 hours, until potatoes are tender and everything is heated through.
Notes
- You can substitute fresh potatoes, but make sure to dice them evenly.
- Add green onions or hot sauce for an extra kick.
- This recipe is very customizable—feel free to use different meats or cheese blends.
