Description
A rich and silky dark chocolate cream pie with a chocolate cookie crust, topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- 1 cup whipped cream, for garnish
- Chocolate shavings, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, combine the chocolate cookie crumbs and melted butter until well combined.
- Press the mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie dish.
- Bake the crust for 8-10 minutes, then remove from the oven and let cool completely.
- In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
- Remove from heat and add the chopped dark chocolate, stirring until smooth and melted.
- Stir in the sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the chocolate mixture into the cooled pie crust and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Refrigerate the pie for at least 4 hours, or until set.
- Before serving, garnish with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
Notes
- Use good-quality dark chocolate for the best flavor.
- Make sure the crust is completely cool before adding the filling.
- The pie can be made a day in advance and stored in the fridge.
