Description

This Deep Hamburger Sausage Pepperoni Pie is the ultimate comfort food, combining savory hamburger, spicy sausage, and flavorful pepperoni in a deep-dish pie. Perfect for a family dinner or a fun weekend meal, this hearty dish is a satisfying mix of meats, melted cheese, and a buttery, flaky crust.

Ingredients

1 lb ground hamburger meat

1/2 lb sausage, crumbled

1/2 lb pepperoni, sliced

1 onion, chopped

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 can pizza dough (or homemade dough)

1/2 cup pizza sauce

1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the hamburger and sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the chopped onion to the meat mixture and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the onions soften.
  4. Stir in the pizza sauce, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to combine.
  5. Roll out the pizza dough and line the bottom and sides of a deep pie dish with it.
  6. Layer the cooked meat mixture on top of the dough.
  7. Add a layer of sliced pepperoni on top of the meat mixture.
  8. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese evenly over the pie.
  9. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling, creating a rustic look.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  11. Let the pie cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  1. Storage: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  2. Reheating: To reheat, warm individual slices in the microwave for 30-45 seconds, or heat the whole pie in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes until warmed through.
  3. Variations: Add bell peppers, mushrooms, or olives for a Mediterranean twist, or use hot Italian sausage for extra heat.
  4. Gluten-free: Use gluten-free pizza dough for those with gluten sensitivity.
  5. You can freeze the pie before baking. Wrap it tightly and store for up to 3 months. Increase baking time by 10-15 minutes when baking from frozen.
