Description

Baked churro bites are a delightful treat that combines the crispy, cinnamon-sugar goodness of churros with the convenience of bite-sized portions. Perfect for a snack or dessert, these mini churros are baked to golden perfection, making them a healthier alternative to the traditional fried version.

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/2 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. Add the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients, stirring until the dough comes together.
  4. Lightly flour your hands and roll the dough into small bite-sized balls, about 1-inch in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the churro bites are golden and cooked through.
  6. While the churro bites are baking, mix the 1/4 cup of sugar and cinnamon together in a small bowl.
  7. Once the churro bites are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly. Roll each bite in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until well coated.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  1. You can make these churro bites gluten-free by using a gluten-free flour blend.
  2. For a vegan version, substitute the butter and milk with plant-based alternatives.
  3. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2-3 days at room temperature.
  4. Reheat churro bites in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 5-7 minutes to maintain crispiness.
  5. These churro bites can be frozen before baking. Bake from frozen with additional time.
