Description
Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, these Disney-style churro bites are coated in cinnamon sugar for a sweet, nostalgic treat perfect for sharing.
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 8 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil or canola oil (for frying)
- 1/2 cup sugar
Instructions
- Combine water, butter, salt, and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon in a 1 1/2-quart saucepan over medium heat and bring to a rolling boil.
- Reduce the heat to low.
- Add the flour and stir vigorously until the mixture forms a ball. Remove from heat and let rest for 5 to 7 minutes.
- Add eggs one at a time, stirring well after each addition until fully combined. Set the dough aside.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a medium skillet or 1-quart saucepan over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).
- Spoon the dough into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe 1-inch strips of dough over the saucepan, cut with a knife, and drop carefully into the hot oil.
- Fry the churro bites until golden brown on all sides.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- In a medium bowl, mix the sugar and remaining 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Toss the warm churro bites in the cinnamon sugar until coated, then transfer to a serving plate and serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- Keep the oil around 350°F for best texture and even frying.
- Fry in small batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.
- Serve warm with chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, or dulce de leche.
- Leftovers are best reheated briefly in an oven or air fryer to restore crispness.
