Description

This Dutch Apple Pie features a tender apple filling with a delicious crumb streusel topping, baked in a flaky pie crust. It’s a comforting and classic dessert perfect for fall or holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 (9-inch) pie crust, unbaked
  • 6 cups apples, peeled and sliced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed (for topping)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place the unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and lemon juice. Toss to coat evenly.
  4. Pour the apple mixture into the prepared pie crust and spread evenly.
  5. In another bowl, mix together flour and brown sugar for the topping. Add in cold, cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until crumbly.
  6. Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the apple filling.
  7. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  8. Allow the pie to cool before slicing and serving.
