Description

A quick and flavorful vegan popcorn recipe coated in a cheesy, savory seasoning blend. Perfect for a healthy snack or movie night treat.


Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • ¼ tsp smoked paprika
  • ¼ tsp turmeric (optional)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder or onion powder (optional)
  • ½1 tsp fine sea salt
  • 23 tbsp coconut oil or vegan butter
  • ⅓ cup popping corn kernels

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together nutritional yeast, smoked paprika, turmeric (if using), garlic or onion powder (if using), and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a large pot, heat coconut oil or vegan butter over medium heat for about 1 minute until melted.
  3. Add three corn kernels to the pot, cover with a lid, and shake occasionally. When the kernels pop, the oil is ready. Remove the popped kernels.
  4. Add the remaining kernels to the pot and cover with the lid. Shake the pot every 5–8 seconds to prevent burning.
  5. When there is about a 6-second pause between pops, remove the pot from heat.
  6. Sprinkle the seasoning over the popcorn while still in the pot. Cover and shake well to coat evenly. Serve in a large bowl.
