A quick and flavorful vegan popcorn recipe coated in a cheesy, savory seasoning blend. Perfect for a healthy snack or movie night treat.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
- ¼ tsp smoked paprika
- ¼ tsp turmeric (optional)
- ½ tsp garlic powder or onion powder (optional)
- ½–1 tsp fine sea salt
- 2–3 tbsp coconut oil or vegan butter
- ⅓ cup popping corn kernels
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together nutritional yeast, smoked paprika, turmeric (if using), garlic or onion powder (if using), and salt. Set aside.
- In a large pot, heat coconut oil or vegan butter over medium heat for about 1 minute until melted.
- Add three corn kernels to the pot, cover with a lid, and shake occasionally. When the kernels pop, the oil is ready. Remove the popped kernels.
- Add the remaining kernels to the pot and cover with the lid. Shake the pot every 5–8 seconds to prevent burning.
- When there is about a 6-second pause between pops, remove the pot from heat.
- Sprinkle the seasoning over the popcorn while still in the pot. Cover and shake well to coat evenly. Serve in a large bowl.
