Description

These Easy Cream Cheese Wontons are a quick and delicious appetizer made with simple ingredients. They’re crispy, creamy, and perfect for dipping in sweet and sour sauce.


Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2024 wonton wrappers
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Sweet and sour sauce, for dipping (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix together cream cheese, green onions, garlic powder, and salt until smooth.
  2. Place about 1 tsp of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each wonton wrapper.
  3. Moisten the edges of the wonton wrapper with water and fold to seal in a triangle or envelope shape, pressing out any air.
  4. Heat about 2 inches of oil in a heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry wontons in batches, about 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve warm with sweet and sour sauce, if desired.

Notes

  • Do not overfill the wontons to avoid bursting during frying.
  • Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying for best crispiness.
  • These can be frozen before frying for make-ahead convenience.
  • Use a thermometer to maintain oil temperature for even cooking.
