Ingredients
- 6 slices brioche bread (or thick white bread)
- 3 large eggs
- 2/3 cup whole milk
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 Tbsp granulated sugar
- Butter or oil for greasing the pan
- Optional toppings: maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh berries
Instructions
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and sugar until well combined.
- Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease with butter or oil.
- Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, soaking both sides well.
- Place the soaked bread slices on the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Transfer to a plate and repeat with remaining slices.
- Serve warm with your favorite toppings like maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh berries.
Notes
- Use thick-cut bread like brioche or challah for best results.
- Day-old bread absorbs the custard mixture better than fresh bread.
- Keep cooked slices warm in the oven at 200°F while finishing the rest.
