Description

This classic green bean casserole combines tender green beans with creamy mushroom soup and crispy fried onions for a comforting and timeless holiday side dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans green beans, drained
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1 (6 ounce) can French-fried onions, divided
  • Salt and ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, and pepper. Stir in half of the French-fried onions.
  3. Transfer mixture to a 1½-quart casserole dish and spread evenly.
  4. Bake uncovered in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until hot and bubbling.
  5. Top with remaining French-fried onions and bake an additional 5 minutes until onions are golden brown.

Notes

  • Substitute fresh or frozen green beans for canned if preferred—blanch first for best results.
  • Add shredded cheddar cheese to the mixture for extra flavor.
  • Season with garlic powder or onion powder for enhanced taste.
