Description
A cozy and hearty layered taco bake made with seasoned ground beef, soft flour tortillas, salsa con queso, and plenty of melted Mexican-style cheese. Perfect for an easy and satisfying weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 packet (1 ounce) taco seasoning
- 2/3 cup water
- 1 cup salsa con queso
- 3 (8-inch) flour tortillas
- 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
- Nonstick cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray an 8-inch round baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown and crumble the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess grease.
- Add taco seasoning and water according to packet instructions. Stir well and cook until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in salsa con queso until fully combined.
- Place one flour tortilla in the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
- Spread one-third of the beef mixture evenly over the tortilla.
- Sprinkle one-third of the shredded cheese over the beef layer.
- Repeat layers with second tortilla, another third of beef mixture, and more cheese.
- Top with the final tortilla, remaining beef mixture, and remaining cheese.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until cheese is melted and edges are lightly browned.
- Allow to cool slightly before slicing into wedges and serving.
Notes
- Add 1 cup rinsed black beans to the beef mixture for extra protein and fiber.
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- Use gluten-free tortillas and seasoning to make it gluten-free.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
- Freeze tightly wrapped portions for up to 2 months.
