Description
Masala Chai Tiramisu is a cozy, egg-free no-bake fusion dessert that combines creamy mascarpone layers with warm, aromatic chai spices and delicately soaked ladyfingers for a unique and comforting twist on the classic Italian favorite.
Ingredients
- 3 cups heavy cream
- 16 ounces mascarpone cheese
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
- Pinch of salt
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1 large cinnamon stick
- 5 cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon black peppercorns
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar or jaggery
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon rose water
- 1 tablespoon heavy cream
- 2 black tea bags
- 30 ladyfingers
- 1/4 cup sweetened cocoa powder or chai spice mix (for dusting)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine water, cinnamon stick, cloves, peppercorns, and ground cardamom. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 8–10 minutes.
- Add tea bags and simmer for another 2–3 minutes until strong and aromatic. Remove from heat and strain into a bowl.
- Stir in brown sugar, vanilla, rose water, and heavy cream. Let the chai mixture cool completely.
- In a large bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, and salt until soft peaks form.
- Add mascarpone cheese and beat until smooth, thick, and creamy. Do not overmix.
- Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled chai mixture, ensuring they are lightly soaked but not soggy.
- Arrange a single layer of soaked ladyfingers in a serving dish.
- Spread half of the cream mixture evenly over the ladyfingers.
- Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and top with the remaining cream mixture.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or preferably overnight.
- Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder or chai spice mix.
Notes
- For richer flavor, add a splash of dark rum or coffee liqueur to the chai soak.
- Full-fat cream and mascarpone yield the best texture and richness.
- Dip ladyfingers briefly to avoid sogginess.
- Best made a day in advance for improved flavor and structure.
- Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
