Description

Masala Chai Tiramisu is a cozy, egg-free no-bake fusion dessert that combines creamy mascarpone layers with warm, aromatic chai spices and delicately soaked ladyfingers for a unique and comforting twist on the classic Italian favorite.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups heavy cream
  • 16 ounces mascarpone cheese
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1 large cinnamon stick
  • 5 cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar or jaggery
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon rose water
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream
  • 2 black tea bags
  • 30 ladyfingers
  • 1/4 cup sweetened cocoa powder or chai spice mix (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine water, cinnamon stick, cloves, peppercorns, and ground cardamom. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 8–10 minutes.
  2. Add tea bags and simmer for another 2–3 minutes until strong and aromatic. Remove from heat and strain into a bowl.
  3. Stir in brown sugar, vanilla, rose water, and heavy cream. Let the chai mixture cool completely.
  4. In a large bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, and salt until soft peaks form.
  5. Add mascarpone cheese and beat until smooth, thick, and creamy. Do not overmix.
  6. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled chai mixture, ensuring they are lightly soaked but not soggy.
  7. Arrange a single layer of soaked ladyfingers in a serving dish.
  8. Spread half of the cream mixture evenly over the ladyfingers.
  9. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and top with the remaining cream mixture.
  10. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or preferably overnight.
  11. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder or chai spice mix.

Notes

  • For richer flavor, add a splash of dark rum or coffee liqueur to the chai soak.
  • Full-fat cream and mascarpone yield the best texture and richness.
  • Dip ladyfingers briefly to avoid sogginess.
  • Best made a day in advance for improved flavor and structure.
  • Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze without cocoa topping for up to 2 months and thaw overnight before serving.
