Description
These Feta Cheese Foldovers are savory Greek-inspired appetizers made with a creamy feta and cream cheese filling, wrapped in flaky phyllo dough. Perfect for parties or gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 (8 ounce) package crumbled feta cheese
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 (16 ounce) package phyllo dough
- 1 cup butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- In a medium bowl, mix together the cream cheese, feta cheese, egg, parsley, and oregano until well blended.
- Unroll the phyllo dough and cover with a damp towel to prevent drying out. Cut the sheets lengthwise into thirds.
- Place one strip on a clean surface and brush lightly with melted butter. Place a heaping teaspoon of the cheese filling at one end of the strip.
- Fold the corner of the strip over the filling to form a triangle. Continue folding like a flag until you reach the end of the strip. Brush the outside with more butter.
- Place the folded triangle on an ungreased baking sheet. Repeat with remaining dough and filling.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Keep phyllo dough covered with a damp towel to prevent it from drying out.
- You can prepare these ahead of time and freeze before baking.
- Substitute fresh herbs for dried for a brighter flavor.
