Description

These Feta Cheese Foldovers are savory Greek-inspired appetizers made with a creamy feta and cream cheese filling, wrapped in flaky phyllo dough. Perfect for parties or gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (8 ounce) package crumbled feta cheese
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 (16 ounce) package phyllo dough
  • 1 cup butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the cream cheese, feta cheese, egg, parsley, and oregano until well blended.
  3. Unroll the phyllo dough and cover with a damp towel to prevent drying out. Cut the sheets lengthwise into thirds.
  4. Place one strip on a clean surface and brush lightly with melted butter. Place a heaping teaspoon of the cheese filling at one end of the strip.
  5. Fold the corner of the strip over the filling to form a triangle. Continue folding like a flag until you reach the end of the strip. Brush the outside with more butter.
  6. Place the folded triangle on an ungreased baking sheet. Repeat with remaining dough and filling.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.
  8. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Keep phyllo dough covered with a damp towel to prevent it from drying out.
  • You can prepare these ahead of time and freeze before baking.
  • Substitute fresh herbs for dried for a brighter flavor.
