Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted French butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon sea salt (or fleur de sel)
- Additional sea salt for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy and light.
- Add egg and vanilla extract; mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and sea salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, stirring until smooth dough forms.
- Cover dough and chill in refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Roll tablespoon-sized portions into balls; place on baking sheets 2 inches apart.
- Sprinkle sea salt on top of each cookie.
- Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are golden but centers remain soft.
- Cool briefly on baking sheets, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
