Description

These delicious hand-held fried apple or peach pies feature a buttery cream cheese dough filled with sweet fruit filling and topped with a cinnamon-sugar sprinkle. Perfect for a snack or dessert!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup soft unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon granulated white sugar
  • 6 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 box of apple or peach pie filling
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter with the cream cheese, and beat until smooth.
  3. Add the vanilla, flour, 1 tablespoon sugar, and 2 teaspoons cinnamon. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Sprinkle a little flour on a flat surface, place the dough in the center, and roll it out to about an inch thick.
  5. Using a 3-inch round cookie cutter, cut out 40 circles of dough.
  6. Place the pie filling in a bowl and mash it up until there are no more big fruit chunks.
  7. Put a teaspoon of filling in the center of 15 dough circles. Cover each with another dough circle.
  8. Crimp the edges of each merged circle with the tines of a fork.
  9. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Mix the garnish (2 tablespoons sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon) and sprinkle it on each pie while still warm.
  11. Let cool slightly and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can use any fruit pie filling of your choice, including cherry or blueberry.
  • Chilling the dough for 15 minutes before rolling can make it easier to handle.
  • These pies are also freezer-friendly before baking.
