Ingredients
- 12 ounces spaghetti or pasta of choice
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup reserved pasta water
- Salt to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
- Reserve 1/4 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta.
- Return the hot pasta to the pot and add the butter. Toss until the butter is completely melted and evenly coats the pasta.
- Add the grated Parmesan cheese and a splash of the reserved pasta water. Toss until creamy and well combined. Add more pasta water as needed to loosen the sauce.
- Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
- Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve immediately.
