Ingredients
- 1 cup old-fashioned oats
- 2 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 tbsp molasses
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp ground cloves (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- Optional toppings: whipped cream, nuts, additional maple syrup, or sprinkles
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine oats and milk. Stir well.
- Add in molasses, maple syrup, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves (if using), and a pinch of salt.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until the oats are soft and the mixture is thickened.
- Remove from heat and let it sit for 1-2 minutes to thicken further.
- Spoon into bowls and top with desired toppings such as whipped cream, nuts, or maple syrup.
Notes
- You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less maple syrup.
- Use any type of milk you prefer, such as almond, oat, or cow’s milk.
- This recipe is easily doubled for more servings.
