Description

Rich, fudgy, and deeply chocolatey brownies made lighter with protein-packed Greek yogurt instead of butter or oil. These healthier brownies deliver classic indulgence with less fat and a moist, tender texture.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup chopped chocolate
  • 1 cup vanilla Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sugar of choice
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup milk of choice
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
  2. Melt the chopped chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth.
  3. Whisk the Greek yogurt, vanilla extract, and sugar into the melted chocolate until fully combined and glossy.
  4. Add the flour, cocoa powder, and baking soda. Mix until just incorporated.
  5. Stir in the milk until the batter is smooth and thick. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • For gluten-free brownies, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free baking blend.
  • Use plant-based yogurt and dairy-free chocolate to make the recipe dairy-free or vegan.
  • Add chopped nuts for extra crunch.
  • Swirl peanut or almond butter into the batter before baking for added flavor.
  • Add 1 teaspoon espresso powder to enhance the chocolate taste.
  • Avoid overbaking to keep the brownies moist and fudgy.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 1 week. Freeze up to 3 months.
