Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup finely chopped pecans
- Green gel food coloring
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for coating)
- 24 red candy hearts
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and 1/2 cup powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add salt and vanilla extract; mix until combined.
- Gradually add in flour and mix until fully incorporated.
- Stir in the chopped pecans and green food coloring until the dough is evenly tinted.
- Use a small cookie scoop to form 1-inch dough balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the bottoms are just turning golden.
- Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes, then roll warm cookies in powdered sugar to coat.
- Place a red candy heart on top of each cookie while they are still slightly warm.
- Let cookies cool completely and roll in powdered sugar again before serving.
