Description

These Grinch Snowball Cookies are a festive holiday treat with a sweet, buttery flavor, a touch of green color, and a red candy heart – perfect for Christmas celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans
  • Green gel food coloring
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for coating)
  • 24 red candy hearts

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and 1/2 cup powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add salt and vanilla extract; mix until combined.
  4. Gradually add in flour and mix until fully incorporated.
  5. Stir in the chopped pecans and green food coloring until the dough is evenly tinted.
  6. Use a small cookie scoop to form 1-inch dough balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the bottoms are just turning golden.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes, then roll warm cookies in powdered sugar to coat.
  9. Place a red candy heart on top of each cookie while they are still slightly warm.
  10. Let cookies cool completely and roll in powdered sugar again before serving.

Notes

  • Be sure to finely chop the pecans for a consistent texture.
  • Use gel food coloring for a more vibrant green without altering the dough consistency.
  • Roll cookies in powdered sugar while warm for better adhesion.
  • You can store the cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
