Description
This Ground Beef and Potato Skillet is a hearty, one-pan meal made with seasoned ground beef, tender potatoes, and melty cheese. Perfect for busy weeknights, it’s ready in about 30 minutes and packed with comforting flavors.
Ingredients
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp. smoked paprika
- 3 cups diced potatoes (about 1/2-inch pieces)
- 1 cup beef stock
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 green onions, sliced (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess grease if necessary.
- Stir in the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
- Add the diced potatoes and beef stock. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
- Cover the skillet and reduce heat to medium-low. Cook for 15-18 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Cover and cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the cheese is melted.
- Garnish with sliced green onions, if using, and serve hot.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
- Add bell peppers or other vegetables for extra nutrition.
- Use pre-cooked potatoes to speed up cooking time.
