Description

This Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteak is a quick and flavorful twist on the classic sandwich, featuring seasoned beef, sautéed peppers and onions, and melty cheese on a toasted hoagie roll. Perfect for an easy weeknight dinner that delivers bold, satisfying flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced bell pepper and onion, and sauté for 4–5 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds more. Remove vegetables from the skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the ground beef. Cook over medium heat, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and fully cooked, about 6–8 minutes. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  3. Season the beef with salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well to combine.
  4. Return the sautéed vegetables to the skillet and mix with the beef. Cook together for 2–3 minutes until heated through.
  5. Divide the beef mixture into four portions in the skillet and top each portion with a slice of provolone cheese. Cover the skillet briefly to allow the cheese to melt.
  6. Butter the hoagie rolls and toast them lightly in a separate pan or under a broiler until golden.
  7. Spoon each cheesy beef portion into a toasted roll and serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can substitute provolone with mozzarella or American cheese if preferred.
  • Add sliced mushrooms for extra flavor and texture.
  • Store leftover beef mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For a spicier version, add sliced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce.
