Description

A hearty and comforting casserole made with layers of ground beef, tender potatoes, creamy mushroom soup, and melted Cheddar cheese—perfect for a satisfying family dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cups thinly sliced potatoes
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the meat is browned and the onion is tender. Drain off excess fat.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased 2-quart casserole dish.
  4. Spread the cooked beef and onion mixture over the potatoes.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together the cream of mushroom soup and milk. Pour half of this mixture over the beef and potatoes.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes and soup mixture.
  7. Cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour, or until the potatoes are tender.
  8. Remove the foil, sprinkle shredded Cheddar cheese on top, and bake uncovered for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.

Notes

  • You can add garlic or herbs to the beef mixture for extra flavor.
