Description
A classic Hawaiian comfort food featuring savory pan-fried Spam, fluffy scrambled eggs, and seasoned rice wrapped together with nori into handheld musubi.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked short-grain white rice
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 can (12 oz) Spam, sliced into 8 pieces
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 4 sheets nori (seaweed), cut in half
Instructions
- Cook the short-grain rice and keep it warm.
- In a small bowl, whisk eggs with milk. Scramble eggs in a lightly oiled pan until just set, then remove and set aside.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry Spam slices until browned on both sides.
- Add soy sauce and sugar to the pan with Spam and cook until the sauce thickens and coats the slices. Remove from heat.
- Place a strip of nori shiny-side down. Add a layer of rice, followed by scrambled egg and a slice of Spam.
- Add another small layer of rice if desired and wrap tightly with the nori.
- Repeat with remaining ingredients and serve warm.
Notes
- Use freshly cooked rice for best texture.
- You can brush extra sauce from the Spam onto the rice for more flavor.
- Musubi can be wrapped in parchment paper for easy handling.
