Description

A moist and naturally sweet banana bread made with whole wheat flour and honey for a healthier twist. Perfect for breakfast or a wholesome snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 cups mashed banana
  • ⅓ cup oil or melted butter
  • ½ cup honey or maple syrup
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 5×9-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth. Add oil or melted butter, honey or maple syrup, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and gently fold until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack and cool for another 20–30 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • Add a pinch of nutmeg or cloves for extra warm spice flavor.
  • Use coconut oil or ghee for a richer taste.
  • Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread soft and tender.
  • Store covered at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
  • Can be frozen in slices for up to 2 months.
