Description
Heart-shaped sugar donuts are a sweet, fluffy treat with a delightful sugar coating, perfect for any occasion. Shaped into hearts, they add a personal touch to celebrations and cozy mornings.
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
1 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. The dough should be soft but not sticky.
- Lightly flour your countertop and roll the dough out to about 1/2-inch thickness. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out the donuts.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large skillet over medium heat.
- Fry the donuts in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown.
- Remove the donuts from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- While the donuts are still warm, coat them in the granulated sugar.
Notes
- For a variation, try dipping the donuts in melted chocolate or coating them in cinnamon sugar.
- These donuts can be baked at 375°F for 10-12 minutes instead of frying.
- They are best served warm, but can be stored for up to 2 days at room temperature or up to 1 week in the fridge.
- Freeze cooled donuts for up to 1 month for later enjoyment.
