Description

Heart-shaped sugar donuts are a sweet, fluffy treat with a delightful sugar coating, perfect for any occasion. Shaped into hearts, they add a personal touch to celebrations and cozy mornings.

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 large eggs

1/2 cup milk

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

1 cup granulated sugar (for coating)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. The dough should be soft but not sticky.
  4. Lightly flour your countertop and roll the dough out to about 1/2-inch thickness. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out the donuts.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large skillet over medium heat.
  6. Fry the donuts in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown.
  7. Remove the donuts from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  8. While the donuts are still warm, coat them in the granulated sugar.

Notes

  1. For a variation, try dipping the donuts in melted chocolate or coating them in cinnamon sugar.
  2. These donuts can be baked at 375°F for 10-12 minutes instead of frying.
  3. They are best served warm, but can be stored for up to 2 days at room temperature or up to 1 week in the fridge.
  4. Freeze cooled donuts for up to 1 month for later enjoyment.
