Description

These Herb and Parmesan Pull-Apart Rolls are soft, buttery, and filled with savory herbs and cheese, making them a perfect side for any meal or a standout addition to a holiday spread.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3/4 cup (180ml) whole milk, warmed to 110°F
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) water, warmed to 110°F
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted and divided
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup (45g) grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, water, and egg.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons melted butter with parsley, chives, thyme, and garlic powder.
  7. Punch down the dough and divide it into 16 equal pieces. Roll each into a ball.
  8. Dip each dough ball into the herb butter mixture, then roll in Parmesan cheese.
  9. Arrange the dough balls in a greased 9-inch round or square baking pan.
  10. Cover and let rise again for about 30–40 minutes until puffy.
  11. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  12. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through.
  13. Brush with the remaining 2 tablespoons melted butter and serve warm.

Notes

  • These rolls can be made ahead and reheated before serving.
  • You can substitute dried herbs if fresh ones aren’t available—use one-third the amount.
  • Try adding shredded mozzarella for an extra cheesy version.
