Description

A crunchy, lightly sweet homemade chocolate cereal made with cocoa and wholesome flours, perfect for a healthier chocolatey breakfast. Baked until crisp, it pairs wonderfully with milk for a simple morning meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup oat flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, oat flour, cocoa powder, brown sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  3. Add the vanilla extract, vegetable oil, and milk, then mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Place the dough between two sheets of parchment paper and roll it out very thin.
  5. Cut the dough into small squares or desired cereal shapes.
  6. Spread the pieces evenly on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 12–15 minutes until the cereal pieces are crisp.
  8. Allow the cereal to cool completely so it becomes crunchy.
  9. Serve with milk or store in an airtight container for later use.

Notes

  • Roll the dough very thin to achieve a crisp cereal texture.
  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or a small handful of mini chocolate chips.
  • Store the cooled cereal in an airtight container for up to one week.
  • Serve with dairy or plant-based milk and fresh fruit for a balanced breakfast.
