This homemade pizza dough is soft, stretchy, and perfect for making delicious pizzas at home. With just a few ingredients and simple steps, you can create an authentic Italian-style base ready for your favorite toppings.
Ingredients
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (440g)
- 1 1/4 cups warm water (300ml)
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 2 tbsp olive oil (30ml)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
- Add the flour and salt to the bowl, then mix until a rough dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours or until it has doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, divide into portions if desired, and roll out to use for your favorite pizza recipes.
Notes
- You can refrigerate the dough for up to 3 days or freeze for later use.
- Ensure the water is warm (not hot) to properly activate the yeast.
- For a crispier crust, bake on a preheated pizza stone or steel.
