Description

This refreshing homemade strawberry lemonade is made with fresh strawberries, tangy lemon juice, and just the right amount of sweetness. It’s the perfect cool drink for hot summer days and is super easy to make!


Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 pint strawberries, cleaned and hulled
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 46 lemons)
  • 46 cups cold water (to taste)
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon slices and strawberry slices for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved completely. Remove from heat and let it cool—this is your simple syrup.
  2. While the syrup is cooling, clean and hull the strawberries. Place them in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
  3. Strain the strawberry puree through a fine mesh sieve into a large pitcher to remove seeds, if desired.
  4. Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice and the cooled simple syrup to the pitcher. Stir well to combine.
  5. Add 4-6 cups of cold water, depending on how strong or sweet you like your lemonade. Stir to mix thoroughly.
  6. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness if needed by adding more water, lemon juice, or sugar.
  7. Refrigerate until chilled. Serve over ice and garnish with lemon and strawberry slices if desired.

Notes

  • Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best flavor and color.
  • You can use bottled lemon juice in a pinch, but fresh lemon juice is highly recommended.
  • Make the simple syrup ahead of time and store in the refrigerator for quick prep.
