Ingredients
- 2 black tea bags (or 2 tsp loose-leaf black tea)
- 1 cinnamon stick (or 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk of your choice (dairy or plant-based)
- 1 cup water
- 1–2 tsp sweetener (honey, sugar, or maple syrup, optional)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a gentle boil.
- Add the cinnamon stick (or ground cinnamon) and black tea bags. Let steep for 5–7 minutes.
- Remove the tea bags and cinnamon stick.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and sweetener, if using.
- Add 1 cup of milk and heat gently until warm. Do not boil.
- For hot milk tea: pour into a mug and enjoy warm.
- For iced milk tea: let the mixture cool, then pour over ice in a tall glass.
Notes
- Use decaf black tea for a caffeine-free version.
- Whole milk creates a creamier texture, but non-dairy options like almond or oat milk also work well.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- To reheat, warm gently without boiling to preserve flavor.
- Adjust sweetness and spice to taste preferences.
