Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1¾ cups milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil (or melted butter)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your waffle iron according to manufacturer’s instructions.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs. Add milk, oil, and vanilla extract, and mix well.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined. Do not overmix.
- Lightly coat the waffle iron with nonstick cooking spray or brush with oil.
- Pour batter onto the preheated waffle iron and cook according to manufacturer’s instructions, usually 3 to 5 minutes, until golden brown and crisp.
- Repeat with remaining batter.

Notes
- Do not overmix the batter; a few lumps are okay.
- Waffles are best served fresh but can be frozen and reheated in a toaster.
- Customize with add-ins like chocolate chips or blueberries.
- For extra crispy waffles, increase cooking time slightly or keep cooked waffles warm in a 200°F oven while finishing the batch.
