Description
This Honey Butter Chicken is crispy, juicy, and coated in a sweet and savory honey butter sauce. It’s a quick and flavorful dish that’s perfect for weeknight dinners or serving over rice for a comforting meal.
Ingredients
- 500g (1.1 lbs) boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp chili flakes (optional, for heat)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix chicken pieces with buttermilk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes or overnight in the fridge.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour and cornstarch.
- Remove chicken from marinade and coat each piece in the flour mixture. Press well to ensure the coating sticks.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken in batches until golden and crispy, about 5–6 minutes per batch. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add honey, soy sauce, and chili flakes. Stir and simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Toss the fried chicken in the warm honey butter sauce until fully coated.
- Serve immediately with rice, mashed potatoes, or your preferred sides.
Notes
- Marinating the chicken in buttermilk helps tenderize and flavor it deeply.
- Use a thermometer to maintain oil temperature around 350°F (175°C) for best frying results.
- You can adjust the spice level by increasing or omitting chili flakes.
- Leftovers can be reheated in an oven or air fryer to maintain crispiness.
