Description
This Honey Lemon Chicken recipe features tender chicken thighs glazed in a sweet, tangy, and garlicky honey lemon sauce. Perfect for a quick and flavorful dinner, it’s pan-seared for a golden crust and finished in a sticky citrus sauce.
Ingredients
- 600g / 1.2 lb chicken thighs, skinless boneless (4–5 pieces)
- Salt and pepper
- 1½ tbsp flour (any flour – plain/all purpose, cornflour/cornstarch)
- 1½ tbsp olive oil
- 1½ tbsp butter, unsalted
- 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1½ tbsp soy sauce (light or all-purpose)
- 3 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
- 1 tsp lemon zest (optional, for extra lemony flavor)
- 1½ tbsp water (for sauce thinning if needed)
- Chopped parsley or green onions, for garnish (optional)
- Cooked rice or vegetables, for serving
Instructions
- Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper, then dust with flour, shaking off excess.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook for 3 minutes on each side until golden. Remove and set aside.
- Lower heat to medium. Add butter to the skillet, then add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add soy sauce, honey, lemon juice, and optional zest. Stir to combine, then add water to thin the sauce slightly if desired.
- Return chicken to the skillet and simmer for 3–4 minutes or until sauce is thickened and chicken is cooked through.
- Spoon sauce over chicken, garnish with parsley or green onions, and serve with rice or vegetables.
Notes
- You can substitute chicken breast, but thighs are juicier.
- Adjust honey or lemon juice to taste – add more honey for sweetness, more lemon for tartness.
- Optional lemon zest enhances the lemon flavor.
- Do not overcrowd the pan for a better sear.
- Leftovers keep well in the fridge for up to 3 days.
