Description

Honey-roasted pears are a simple yet elegant dessert that enhances the natural sweetness of ripe pears through caramelization. With warm flavors of honey, spices, and tender baked fruit, it’s perfect for a cozy treat or a refined dinner finale.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe but firm pears, halved and cored
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wash and halve the pears lengthwise. Scoop out the cores using a spoon or melon baller.
  3. Arrange the pear halves cut side up in a baking dish.
  4. In a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and mix in the honey, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), lemon juice, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
  5. Pour the honey-butter mixture over the pears, coating each one thoroughly.
  6. Roast in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, basting occasionally with the pan juices, until the pears are tender and golden on the edges.
  7. Serve warm with optional toppings like vanilla ice cream, yogurt, or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Use firm pears like Bosc, Anjou, or Bartlett for best texture during roasting.
  • This recipe can be made ahead and reheated before serving.
  • Swap honey with maple syrup for a flavor twist.
  • Add chopped nuts or spices like cloves and cardamom for variation.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat in oven or microwave.
