Description
This homemade latte recipe shows you how to make a rich and creamy coffee shop–style latte at home using espresso and steamed milk. It’s simple, satisfying, and customizable with your favorite flavors or milk alternatives.
Ingredients
- 2 shots espresso (or 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee)
- 3/4 cup whole milk (or any milk of choice)
- Sweetener or flavored syrup (optional)
Instructions
- Brew 2 shots of espresso using an espresso machine, Nespresso, Aeropress, or Moka pot. Alternatively, use 1/2 cup of strong brewed coffee.
- Steam the milk using a steam wand until hot and frothy, or heat milk on the stovetop or in the microwave, then froth using a milk frother, French press, or whisk.
- Pour the espresso into a mug.
- Slowly add the steamed milk, holding back the foam with a spoon, then spoon the foam on top.
- Add sweetener or flavored syrup to taste, if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Whole milk creates the creamiest texture, but oat milk and other dairy-free options also work well.
- For a flavored latte, add vanilla, caramel, or hazelnine syrup before pouring in the milk.
- If using strong coffee instead of espresso, the flavor will be milder but still delicious.
