- Ice, for serving
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine water, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cloves, star anise (if using), ginger, and peppercorns. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes to allow the spices to infuse.
- Add the tea bags and steep for 5 minutes, then remove the tea bags and strain the mixture to remove spices.
- Stir in brown sugar or sweetener while the tea is still warm until dissolved.
- Let the spiced tea cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled.
- To serve, fill a glass with ice, pour in half tea and half milk, and stir to combine.
- Adjust sweetness or milk ratio to taste and enjoy immediately.
Notes
- You can prepare the spiced tea concentrate ahead of time and store it in the fridge for up to a week.
- Use your favorite milk—almond, oat, soy, or whole milk—for different flavor profiles.
- Customize the spice level by adjusting the amount or type of spices used.
