Description

This irresistible sticky pineapple brown sugar glazed beef features tender beef strips cooked in a sweet and tangy glaze made with pineapple juice, brown sugar, soy sauce, and garlic. It’s a perfect blend of savory and sweet, ideal for a quick weeknight dinner or an impressive dish for guests.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix pineapple juice, brown sugar, soy sauce, and minced garlic. Set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add half of the sliced beef and sear until browned. Remove and repeat with the remaining oil and beef.
  3. Return all the beef to the skillet. Pour in the pineapple mixture. Bring to a simmer.
  4. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to form a slurry. Add to the skillet and stir until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Season with black pepper and optional red pepper flakes. Stir to coat evenly.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot over rice or noodles.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, increase the amount of red pepper flakes.
  • This dish pairs well with jasmine rice or stir-fried vegetables.
  • You can substitute beef with chicken or tofu for variation.
