Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon anise extract
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 5 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
- Sprinkles for decorating
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla and anise extracts and mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until bottoms are lightly golden. Let cookies cool completely on a wire rack.
- In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze.
- Dip the tops of cooled cookies into the glaze and decorate with sprinkles.
- Allow glaze to set before serving or storing.

- You can freeze the cookies (unglazed) for up to 3 months.
