Description

This Juicy Shrimp Fra Diavolo is a spicy, flavorful Italian-American pasta dish made with plump shrimp, garlic, broth, crushed tomatoes, and red pepper flakes for a bold and zesty kick. Perfect for seafood lovers who enjoy a little heat!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 3 tbsp olive oil, divided
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup seafood or chicken broth
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp sugar (optional)
  • 12 oz linguine or spaghetti
  • Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta in a large pot of salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. While pasta cooks, season shrimp with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  3. In a large skillet, heat 2 tbsp of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add shrimp and cook 1-2 minutes per side until just pink. Remove and set aside.
  4. Lower heat to medium and add remaining 1 tbsp olive oil. Add garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Pour in broth and simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly reduced.
  6. Add crushed tomatoes, a pinch of salt, pepper, and sugar (if using). Simmer for 10-15 minutes to let flavors develop.
  7. Return shrimp to skillet and simmer for another 2-3 minutes until shrimp are heated through.
  8. Toss cooked pasta with the sauce until well combined.
  9. Serve garnished with fresh basil or parsley.

Notes

  • Adjust red pepper flakes based on your spice preference.
  • Use fresh or frozen shrimp – just make sure they’re fully thawed before cooking.
  • Broth adds depth of flavor and keeps the dish halal-friendly.
