Description

These classic Loose Meat Sandwiches are packed with savory seasoned ground beef simmered to perfection and served on soft hamburger buns. Quick, easy, and family-friendly, they make a satisfying comfort food meal for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (85/15 recommended)
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons steak sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 cube beef bouillon
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is softened.
  2. Drain excess grease if needed.
  3. Add the water, steak sauce, soy sauce, beef bouillon, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir until well combined.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
  5. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until most of the liquid has reduced and the flavors are blended.
  6. Spoon the loose meat mixture onto hamburger buns and serve warm with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Add American or cheddar cheese for a cheesier sandwich.
  • Popular toppings include pickles, mustard, ketchup, and diced onions.
  • Ground turkey or chicken can be substituted for a lighter version.
  • Serve the meat mixture over baked potatoes or fries instead of buns.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Reheat with a splash of water or broth if the meat mixture becomes dry.
