Description

Melopita Naxou is a soft, crustless honey cheesecake made with fresh cheese, eggs, and a hint of cinnamon. This traditional Greek island dessert is simple, fragrant, and naturally sweetened.

Ingredients

  • 400 g ricotta or anthotyro cheese
  • 100 ml honey
  • 3 eggs (≈ 150 g)
  • 40 g flour
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • Butter for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. In a bowl, mix the cheese and honey until well combined.
  3. Add the eggs and whisk until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Stir in the flour and cinnamon until fully incorporated.
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  6. Smooth the top evenly.
  7. Bake for about 40 minutes or until golden on top.
  8. Allow the cake to cool slightly before serving.
  9. Drizzle extra honey on top before serving.

Notes

  • Anthotyro can be replaced with ricotta for a similar texture.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature for best flavor.
  • Add a sprinkle of extra cinnamon on top for enhanced aroma.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
