Description
Melopita Naxou is a soft, crustless honey cheesecake made with fresh cheese, eggs, and a hint of cinnamon. This traditional Greek island dessert is simple, fragrant, and naturally sweetened.
Ingredients
- 400 g ricotta or anthotyro cheese
- 100 ml honey
- 3 eggs (≈ 150 g)
- 40 g flour
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Butter for greasing
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a baking dish with butter.
- In a bowl, mix the cheese and honey until well combined.
- Add the eggs and whisk until the mixture is smooth.
- Stir in the flour and cinnamon until fully incorporated.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Smooth the top evenly.
- Bake for about 40 minutes or until golden on top.
- Allow the cake to cool slightly before serving.
- Drizzle extra honey on top before serving.
Notes
- Anthotyro can be replaced with ricotta for a similar texture.
- Serve warm or at room temperature for best flavor.
- Add a sprinkle of extra cinnamon on top for enhanced aroma.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
