Description

Melopita is a traditional Greek honey pie from the island of Sifnos, made with soft cheese, honey, and eggs. It’s light, creamy, and naturally sweetened with no added sugar, making it a delightful and simple dessert.


Ingredients

  • 500g ricotta cheese (or Greek anthotyro/manouri cheese)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 100g honey (plus extra for serving)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (plus extra for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, add the ricotta cheese and whisk to smooth out any lumps.
  3. Add the eggs, honey, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon. Mix until well combined and smooth.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased 20cm (8-inch) round baking dish or springform pan.
  5. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden and the pie has set.
  6. Remove from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
  7. Drizzle with extra honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon before serving.
