- 500g ricotta cheese (or Greek anthotyro/manouri cheese)
- 3 large eggs
- 100g honey (plus extra for serving)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (plus extra for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a large mixing bowl, add the ricotta cheese and whisk to smooth out any lumps.
- Add the eggs, honey, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon. Mix until well combined and smooth.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 20cm (8-inch) round baking dish or springform pan.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden and the pie has set.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
- Drizzle with extra honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon before serving.
Notes
- You can use Greek cheeses like anthotyro or manouri for a more authentic flavor.
- Let the melopita chill before slicing for cleaner cuts.
- This dessert is naturally sweetened with honey—no refined sugar added.
- Serve it plain or with fresh fruit for extra freshness.
