Description
These Middle Eastern Kofta Kebabs are a flavorful mix of ground beef, onions, herbs, and spices, shaped onto skewers and grilled to perfection. They’re juicy, aromatic, and perfect for serving with rice, pita, or salads.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef or lamb
- 1 small onion, grated or finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground allspice
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Skewers (if using wooden skewers, soak in water for 30 minutes)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground meat, onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, and all the spices. Season with salt and pepper.
- Mix the ingredients thoroughly using your hands until well combined and the mixture holds together.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape each portion around a skewer into a long, sausage-like shape.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
- Grill the kebabs for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until cooked through and browned on the outside.
- Remove from grill and let rest a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can use a mix of beef and lamb for richer flavor.
- Serve with hummus, tzatziki, or a fresh cucumber salad.
- These kebabs can also be baked or cooked in a skillet if a grill is not available.
