Description

Minatamis na Saging is a classic Filipino dessert made with saba bananas simmered in a rich, sweet syrup. It’s simple, comforting, and perfect served warm or chilled.

Ingredients

  • 4 pieces saba banana (saging na saba)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Heat a cooking pot and pour in the water, then bring to a boil.
  2. Add brown sugar and stir until fully dissolved.
  3. Add salt and vanilla extract, then mix well.
  4. Add the saba bananas and reduce heat to medium. Cover and simmer for 8 to 12 minutes, or until the liquid thickens.
  5. Turn off the heat and allow the bananas to cool before serving.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm saba bananas for the best texture.
  • Adjust sugar level based on your desired sweetness.
  • Serve warm or chilled for a refreshing dessert.
  • Can be paired with crushed ice or milk for variation.
