- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon orange zest (from 1–2 oranges)
- 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, orange zest, and orange juice until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until the dough forms.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Optional: Dust with powdered sugar once fully cooled for a pretty finish.
Notes
- For extra orange flavor, add a bit more zest or a drop of orange extract.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
- Chilling the dough for 30 minutes can help reduce spreading.
