Description

Parmesan Garlic Potato Balls are crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and packed with savory garlic and cheesy flavor. These bite-sized delights transform simple mashed potatoes into an irresistible appetizer or side dish perfect for gatherings or comforting family meals.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium russet potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder)
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch or all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • 2 cups vegetable or canola oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Place the peeled and chopped potatoes in a large pot of salted water. Bring to a boil and cook until fork-tender.
  2. Drain the potatoes thoroughly and mash until completely smooth. Let cool slightly.
  3. Add grated Parmesan, garlic, salt, pepper, and cornstarch or flour. Mix until well combined and the mixture holds together.
  4. Scoop small portions and roll into evenly sized balls. Lightly dust hands with flour if needed.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat until hot (about 350°F/175°C).
  6. Fry the potato balls in batches for 5–7 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. Garnish with chopped parsley and extra Parmesan if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For a melty center, insert a small cube of mozzarella inside each ball before frying.
  • Roll in breadcrumbs before frying for extra crispiness.
  • Bake at 400°F for 18–22 minutes, turning halfway through.
  • Air fry at 375°F for 10–12 minutes, shaking halfway through.
  • Ensure potatoes are well-drained to prevent the balls from falling apart.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven or air fryer for best texture.
