Description

These rich and buttery pecan bars feature a tender shortbread crust topped with a sweet, gooey pecan filling. Perfect for holiday baking or whenever you crave a decadent homemade treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 2 cups chopped pecans
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Add the softened butter and mix until the dough is crumbly.
  3. Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust.
  4. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  5. Meanwhile, whisk together the brown sugar, honey, melted butter, and heavy cream in a medium bowl. Stir in the chopped pecans and vanilla extract.
  6. Pour the pecan filling over the hot crust and spread it evenly.
  7. Bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the filling is set and golden.
  8. Let the pecan bars cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • Allow the bars to cool fully for clean, even slices.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 1 week.
  • For extra flavor, lightly toast the pecans before adding to the filling.
  • Serve with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent dessert.
