Description
Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, these Perfect Fried Shrimp are seasoned with garlic, paprika, and oregano for a flavorful appetizer, snack, or main dish.
Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh shrimp, deveined and peeled
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 Tbsp salt, divided (or to taste)
- 1/2 tsp black pepper (or to taste)
- 2 tsp granulated garlic, divided
- 2 tsp paprika, divided
- 2 tsp oregano, divided
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- Oil, for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the milk with 1/2 tablespoon salt, 1 teaspoon oregano, 1 teaspoon paprika, and 1 teaspoon granulated garlic. Add the shrimp, stir to coat, and marinate for 10 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour with the remaining salt, paprika, oregano, granulated garlic, and black pepper.
- Remove the shrimp from the milk mixture and let any excess drip off.
- Thoroughly coat each shrimp in the seasoned flour mixture, pressing the flour on for a thicker crust.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer over medium-high heat.
- Fry the shrimp in batches, without overcrowding, for 2–3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For extra crunch, double-dip the shrimp in the milk and flour mixture.
- Use a thermometer to keep oil at around 350°F for best frying results.
- Serve with tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, or spicy aioli for dipping.
