Description

Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, these Perfect Fried Shrimp are seasoned with garlic, paprika, and oregano for a flavorful appetizer, snack, or main dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh shrimp, deveined and peeled
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp salt, divided (or to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper (or to taste)
  • 2 tsp granulated garlic, divided
  • 2 tsp paprika, divided
  • 2 tsp oregano, divided
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • Oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the milk with 1/2 tablespoon salt, 1 teaspoon oregano, 1 teaspoon paprika, and 1 teaspoon granulated garlic. Add the shrimp, stir to coat, and marinate for 10 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the flour with the remaining salt, paprika, oregano, granulated garlic, and black pepper.
  3. Remove the shrimp from the milk mixture and let any excess drip off.
  4. Thoroughly coat each shrimp in the seasoned flour mixture, pressing the flour on for a thicker crust.
  5. Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer over medium-high heat.
  6. Fry the shrimp in batches, without overcrowding, for 2–3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, double-dip the shrimp in the milk and flour mixture.
  • Use a thermometer to keep oil at around 350°F for best frying results.
  • Serve with tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, or spicy aioli for dipping.
